Actually The Giving Tree made me cry because it as a story about glorified codependency and thousands of people read it to their kids (including me, until I thought about it a little more and then thought “OMG WTF am I trying to teach my kid reading them this?” But, because I can’t burn or throw away books, I dropped it off at the thrift store. Clearly others see this book differently than I do, so hopefully it went to a home like that, lol.
