My best advice is to let it be just that: a work in progress. We never shame him into doing anything toilet-related; we chat cheerfully enough about the shape of his poo as we wipe. But we keep asking him to do it himself, and eventually he will. And then it’ll be time to potty train his brother, and we’ll have another butt to wipe.
