Goodreads has kind of helped spur my reading along, too. I got a Kindle for Christmas, which makes the connection to Goodreads even more fun, and I’ve been reading a lot more fiction because of it. I don’t aim to be a fiction writer — i’m such a practical realist of a person — but what I do love about reading fiction is, as you said, getting lost in it — the worlds, the characters, the descriptors. Seeing what other people have highlighted (just like here on Medium) on my Kindle is also fun, as is reviewing the books. I make myself take an hour away from my office frequently to go sit in the tea shop downstairs and READ.
