I loved this! I was actually writing an article about Mexico (here on Medium, lol) and did a google search for “combi” so I could link to it and give folks a picture — lo and behold, I wound up back here on Medium! I loved taking the combis (and the chicken busses) and the sweet and wonderful people I encountered traveling all over rural Mexico. That country holds my heart like no other.
