i still wait tables at a nice restaurant one night a week — it isn’t a “shit” job, because it adds $600-$800 to my income every month and i love the people i work with there, but food can be the worst — it’s often the one time in someone’s life when they can try and powertrip on someone else, and it’s always so obvious. those are the folks who get my fake smile and minimal but appropriate service, and even, sometimes, a little extra waiting time. ;)
