i’m sure raising six kids with serious behavioral issues also had a lot to do with it. the pain and shock of this awful tragedy rocked my community in a very personal way, as many of us spent time in the presence of this family. is this what was happening behind the scenes and yet right in front of our faces? Quite possibly — but we also saw these kids experiencing heaps of bliss, regularly.

I know several white lesbian couples who have been asked to foster black children. I don’t know that I, personally, could say no to a child, any child, that needed a safe space. My wife and I have thought about it.

Foster systems in every state need drastic reform, and it needs to be easier for black families to foster black children.

Dolezol is an embarrassment and detrimental to those of us who wish to ally. but, I know what we are gonna watch tonight.

great article, thank you. it took me a while to read news even mentioning the hart family after my community suffered such shock and heartbreak. it is easier now, especially as I consider how that situation could have been so different, and what, if anything, I can do to prevent something like it from happening again.

those kids were amazing.
