In Alexander Chee’s new collection of essays, How to Write an Autobiographical Novel, he talks about how he used to write stories like this too. I mean, I literally JUST read that passage. Not sure what it says that I keep reading about men who write stories in which nothing happens but thankfully, Mr. Chee has gone beyond that. I don’t know how someone even does this, really (it seems to be a male affliction).
